Finding The Sultan's Elephant

Map of the sites used for Sultan's Elephant

The spectacle proper begins on Friday, 5th May. It takes place in the streets and public spaces of Westminster, in the area around Horse Guards Parade in St James’s Park, St James’s, Piccadilly, Haymarket and Trafalgar Square.

Thursday 4th May

A rocket lands in Waterloo Place

Friday 5th May

1pm The Sultan arrives at Horse Guards Parade

2pm A little girl comes out of the rocket in Waterloo Place

2.30pm Presentation of gifts - Horse Guards Parade

Siesta

5pm Departure of the elephant

6.30pm The Sultan attends a private party in Pall Mall

7.45pm The Sultan leaves the party

8pm Bed time - Horse Guards Parade

Saturday 6th May

8am The arrival of the Sultan - Horse Guards Parade

The little girl gets dressed

The little girl goes sightseeing

The elephant gets ready for a civic reception

11.30am The elephant leaves for Trafalgar Square

1.45pm A civic reception

4pm The elephant and the little girl return to Horse Guards Parade

6.30pm The visitors arrive back at Horse Guards Parade

Bed time

Sunday 7th May

11am The arrival of the Sultan at Horse Guards Parade

Preparations for the day

They leave for Piccadilly

The little girl plays in St James's Park

1pm The sultan and his entourage lunch in Piccadilly

Siesta

3.30pm Departure of the elephant

The little girl goes for another walk in the park

The little girl meets the elephant

5.30pm Finale - Departure of the rocket - Horse Guards Parade
